Tuscarora Run

The Tuscarora run is the combination of the Onieda and the Cayuga.

The Oneida runs from Glen Morris to Paris, one of the most scenic parts of the Grand River; you feel as if you are truly deep in the wilderness. A guide can take you on a fascinating hike along the hills of the river valley to a scenic lookout revealing the landscape of the river stretched out beneath you. It is a section with the best of both worlds: low-key rapids add fun and excitement, while calm sections allow you to relax and take in the beauty surrounding you.

The Cayuga run is mostly relaxing paddle, with dashes of small rapids to keep your interest piqued. The famous “Bloop” awaits the adventurous paddlers looking for excitement and a splash: a ledge on the river’s bottom creates a standing two foot wave that is sure to get your heart pounding. Those looking to stay dry can opt to steer to the left and drift past it.
This section is rife with wildlife: approach quietly and you’ll get to see great Blue Herons, Ospreys, Painted Turtles, and perhaps even deer. It is also historically important: your guide will show you the remains of a 150 year-old gypsum mine, a key to Paris’ history.

The trip ends in Brant Park Conservation Area in Brantford. We can set up camping arrangements for you if you would like to add an overnight stay to your adventure. Otherwise, you’ll be on your way home with some great memories to last you till your next trip.

Due to the duration of the trip, this run is limited to the 9am start and is not recommended for beginners. The many shore hikes and stops can only be done as time permits, since boats must be back by 6pm. However, if it’s the full-experience you’re after, an overnight camping trip can be arranged.
6 Hour Paddle.
