Voyageur Canoes are historic large canoes used to carry groups of Voyageurs or Courier de Bois as they explored the Canadian Wilderness to trade with First Nations People. Similar to Native War Canoes, Voyageur Canoes were the best way to swiftly carry many people & cargo long distances through the wilderness.
Voyageur Canoes are a good alternative to slow moving Grand River rafting trips. Voyageurs are very stable, quick & easy to paddle plus provide a historically accurate way to Travel a Canadian Heritage River. One of our experienced Big Canoe guides always joins your group, takes the stern & steers our Voyageur Canoes on your trip.
1/2 Day Voyageur Adventures are available for our Cayuga Run (daily April to June) & our Mohawk Run (daily all season April to Nov.) for $49.95 per person. Price includes all paddling gear & shuttle service from parking at the trip's end point. (approx. 3 hrs)
Full Day Trips, add a delicious riverside lunch and a fuller journey including a hike through the Carolinian forest for $64.95 per person. (5 hrs.+)
Turtle Island Voyageur Canoe Tour launches from our Brant Conservation Area site. Your guide leads you on paddle around the calm waters of scenic 'Brant Lake' on the Grand River to a secret landing point and a short hike though rare Carolinian forest to visit a Native Storyteller's campfire.
